The last two years ushered in major disruptions to the workplace, and 2022 is already looking like another rollercoaster ride around the sun. Whether you are working from home or at the office, chances are you could be more productive and get more things done.

Being mindful of how you are spending your time can make a big difference when it comes to your productivity levels. There are a lot of tools available that can help improve your productivity and become more efficient without spending a fortune. Apart from those tools, here are a few tips to help you get more tasks accomplished -

  • Work in short bursts - It has been shown that individuals who take breaks and work in short bursts tend to be more productive than those who work without any breaks. As humans, we are not designed to be constantly working. Taking breaks allows us to come back to the task with our minds feeling more refreshed. Constantly working on something for long periods of time drains you mentally.

  • Automate repetitive tasks - If you've been spending time every day doing repetitive tasks, it is time to change that in 2022. There are plenty of tools and apps available that help you automate these tasks - scheduling emails, scheduling social media posts, automated message replies, etc, that will save you plenty of time by the end of the year.

  • Create templates and checklists - Creating templates and checklists is a great way of being on top of your tasks and knowing what needs to be done and what needs to be prioritized. Ticking off tasks is also shown to have motivational effects where you feel good about getting things done and strive to tick off more.

  • Disable notifications - At this point, we are all aware of phones being the biggest distraction yet sometimes we still ignore disabling notifications. When you completely immerse yourself in ticking off your tasks, notifications on your phone pull you out of that flow state. It becomes difficult for your mind to focus again on the task at hand.

  • Plan your week ahead of time - Planning your week in advance has many advantages - you know exactly what you need to do and don't wander around wasting your time and energy thinking about what needs to be done. You can then manage your time better, enjoy a better work-life balance and maybe also have spare time to pick up a hobby.
